Editor's Words And Thoughts
As I sit down to read the newspaper or watch the evening news, the question "why?" seems to ring over and over in my head. Often a feeling of hopelessness overcomes me and I wonder if race relations in our cities will ever improve. So instead of simply wondering about it, I thought it was time to do something before it was too late. It was time to take ignorance and apathy and turn then into knowledge and understanding.
Urban Mozaik is not an outlet for our racial struggles, it is a celebration of people as unique individuals and of the spirit of being human. Our society is changing every day. Our surroundings are in constant flux and our attitudes about people are constantly being challenged. It's important that we see people as people regardless of their race or the color of their skin. If we all look inside one another we will see more human similarities than differences. Yet, at the same time, it is these differences that make our society truly unique and interesting. And it is within Urban Mozaik Magazine that you will find these profound similarities and wonderful differences. Each vibrant online issue will bring you everything from lighthearted articles to serious social issues that need our attention. We'll also bring you tasty recipes, intriguing images, thought-provoking forums, inspiring stories, in-depth discussions, music, film and book reviews, exciting multicultural events happening throughout the continent and much, much more including an ever-growing, extensive editorial archive.
Let Urban Mozaik be your guide to a better multicultural society in North America and a richer world for all of us to live in. Let these pages inspire you to learn more about others. Let these pages make you think, explore, discover and celebrate the world in our cities!
