Zen Palate
A New York City Restaurant With A Buddhist Twist
A Restaurant Review by Carly Bolson, Urban Mozaik - New York

Nominated for the 'Best Vegetarian Restaurant' by New York 'citysearch.com' readers, Zen Palate offers the most unique, delectable options for veggie lovers and or vegans. With a menu that boasts dishes such as 'Dharma's Wheel,' and 'Crystal Ball,' it should be no surprise that this restaurant can definitely be considered a Zen Buddhist's treat for achieving culinary enlightenment. Surrounded by Buddhist serenity decor, guests enjoy a relaxed atmosphere and can choose to sit at a Western style table or at a traditional Japanese style table with tatami mats to sit on. For starters, the Taro spring rolls in a red sweet and sour sauce leave your mouth watering for more. While enjoying tasty dishes such as 'Dharma's Wheel,' consisting of tempura portabello mushrooms, mashed Japanese yams, sauteed string beans and carrots, drizzled in a light soy vinaigrette, you don't have to worry about saving room for desert. Entrees are light and satisfying, leaving you guilt free to order the tofu raspberry cheesecake or non-dairy mango pudding for desert. Average entree price is $16-20, putting a fairly hefty price tag on gourmet Vegetarian cuisine.
