Mix It Up
New line of greeting cards serves Interracial and Multiracial consumer groups

Mix It Up, a new line of greeting cards serving people in interracial relationships and multiracial consumers, has launched. Created by sisters Tiffany and Courtney Morrison, whose mother is Anglo-American and father is African-American, the concept for Mix It Up was developed after their mother customized a store-bought card by coloring one of the faces on the card brown.

While the number of interracial relationships and people of multiracial backgrounds has steadily increased, the greeting card options for this consumer group remain limited. According to the U.S. Census, 1 in 50 marriages are interracial, a number that has more than quadrupled since 1974. As a logical progression, the number of multiracial people has also significantly increased, with more high profile, visible examples, including: Halle Berry, Lenny Kravitz, Mariah Carey, Tiger Woods & Alicia Keys.

Mix It Up launches with a line of beautifully photographed cards with a variety of vignettes, including: wedding, engagement, birthday, baby and other special occasions. Additional product lines will launch later in 2005.
