As I sit down to read the newspaper or watch the evening news, the question "Why?" seems to ring over and over in my head. Often a feeling of hopelessness overcomes me and I wonder if race relations in our world will ever improve. So, instead of simply wondering about it, I thought it was time to do something positive about it. It was time to take ignorance and apathy and turn them into knowledge and understanding.

Urban Mozaik™ is not an outlet for our racial struggles, it is a celebration of people as unique individuals and of the spirit of being human. Our society is changing every day. Our surroundings are in constant flux and our attitudes about people are constantly being challenged. It's important that we see people as people regardless of their race or the color of their skin. If we all look inside one another we will see more human similarities than differences. Yet, at the same time, it is these differences that make our society truly unique and interesting. And it is within Urban Mozaik™ that you will find these profound similarities and wonderful differences. Each online issue will bring you thought-provoking feature articles, "Voices" from our readers, music, film and book reviews, multicultural news and more, including an ever-growing, extensive editorial archive.

Let Urban Mozaik™ be your guide to a better multicultural society and a richer world for all of us to live in. Let these pages inspire you to learn more about others. Let these pages make you think about, explore and celebrate the people and cultures of this vast and wonderful world that we all share.
