Miami Celebrates The Caribbean Culture, Miami Style.

In it's seventeenth year in South Florida, The Western Union Miami Carnival 2001 Caribbean Mardi Gras is drawing near and scheduled to be held on Columbus Day Weekend, October 6-7, 2001, under the theme, "Don't Stop the Carnival".

On Saturday, October 6th Miami Carnival 2001 will include a star-studded Carnival Jamboree Concert, in collaboration with major radio & television stations, featuring stars such as the Mighty Shadow (Road March King), Rootsman (singing his Miami Carnival Anthem), Roy Cape & the Kaiso All Stars with Destra Garcia, Alison Hinds and Andy Armstrong of Square One, Rupee and TC of Barbados, Iwer George, and an eclectic mix of hip hop and reggae music stars. The Concert will end with a huge Steelband Panorama Competition.

On Sunday, October 7, 2001, the Grand Parade of Bands with the pageantry of more than 20 masquerade bands/troupes from the Caribbean islands will feature leading music bands from Trinidad & Tobago such as Roy Cape & the Kaiso All Stars,Surface, Kurt Allen, Atlantik, Traffik, DJs including Gary Enforcement (Best DJ, Miami Carnival 2000), Sound Revolution, Mixmaster Roderick, Dorenzo, Maestro, House Arrest, GB Productions, Rambo, the Flava Road Show and much more.

The reigning King and Queen from Trinidad Carnival 2001 will also appear at the Opa-Locka Airport grounds, along with Len Boogsie Sharpe and Phase II Pan Groove direct from Trinidad & Tobago.
